Hurricanes Earn 74-68 Victory at Boston College
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team earned a tough 74-68 win over Boston College on Saturday in the Conte Forum.
In the first half, the Hurricanes (18-5, 7-3 ACC) utilized a 7-0 run to take a 29-19 lead with 5:36 remaining. The Eagles (9-14, 2-8 ACC) responded with a 14-5 run to close out the half as the Hurricanes lead 34-33 at the break.
Miami built its lead back up to double digits by the under-12 timeout, 50-40, after making seven-consecutive field goals. Boston College battled back and took a 58-57 advantage with five and a half minutes left before back-to-back buckets from Shelton Henderson and Tre Donaldson gave Miami a 61-58 lead.
The Canes used a 6-0 spurt to push the advantage up to seven before an Ernest Udeh Jr. alley-oop from Donaldson sealed the win.
Malik Reneau led all scorers with 23 points, registering his fourth-straight 20-point performance, and added eight rebounds. Henderson tallied 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go along with six rebounds and a pair of blocks. Donaldson added 14 points and a season-high eight rebounds.
As a team, Miami shot 51.9% from the floor and held Boston College to 40% including 32.1% from beyond the arc. In the paint, the Hurricanes outscored the eagles, 44-30.
The Hurricanes return to action Tuesday as they host North Carolina at 7 p.m. inside the Watsco Center. The game will air on ESPN and can be heard locally on WQAM.
