Hurricanes Fall to No. 9 UCF
ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (5-3) fell, 4-0, to the No. 9 UCF Knights (8-0) on Friday night at the USTA National Campus.
Miami was unable to secure the doubles point, as Antonio Prat and Nacho Serra Sanchez fell 3-6 on court two, while Jules Garot and Rafael Segado dropped court three, 3-6. Jakub Kroslak and Mehdi Sadaoui led 5-4 on court one when the point was decided.
The Knights clinched the match with three straight singles wins. Sadaoui fell, 0-6, 2-6, on court four to Pedro Rodrigues, while Segado dropped court five, 3-6, 1-6, to Paul Colin. Kroslak was then the final loss on court three to Mehdi Benchakroun, 1-6, 4-6.
At the time play was halted, No. 95 Prat was down No. 64 Yassine Dlimi, 2-6, 4-5, on the top court, Serra Sanchez was locked in a 4-6, 5-1 battle at No. 2 with No. 108 Wissam Abderrahman and Garot held a 7-6 (3), 1-2 advantage on court six over Nicolas Oliveira.
The Hurricanes will return home to face USF on Feb. 10.
