Miami Falls to No. 8 San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (3-2) 4-1 to the No. 8 San Diego Toreros (3-1) in the consolation round of ITA Kickoff Weekend at the Hogan Tennis Center.
Miami rallied for the doubles point, as Antonio Prat and Nacho Serra Sanchez fell first 3-6 on court one, while Mehdi Sadaoui and Jakub Kroslak took court two, 6-4, over Stian Klaassen and Manvydas. Rafael Seagdo and Jules Garot then came back for the 7-6 (4) hard-fought win against Vincent Marysko and Luc Wieland at the No. 3 spot to secure the doubles point.
USD answered with a court two win, 6-3, 7-6 (2), from Marysko over Serra Sanchez and took the lead with a 6-3, 7-5 top-court win over No. 30 Prat from Tarvet.
Segado battled on four but fell 4-6, 3-6 to Ruland, while Balciunas clinched the Torero win over Kroslak, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot.
Sadaoui was down 6-4, 1-6, 1-3 to Klaassen on court four, while Garot trailed Adiren Berrut, 6-7 (5), 3-4 on court six.
The Hurricanes will return home for a doubleheader against Stetson and Kennesaw State on Saturday, Jan. 31. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
