Hurricanes Earn Two Sweeps in Doubleheader

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (3-0) opened the season with a 7-0 win over the UNF Ospreys and 4-0 victory over Buffalo Bulls on Saturday.

Mehdi Sadaoui and Jakub Kroslak took down Youssef Labbene and Kyle Piqueras, 6-1, on court two, followed by a 6-4 win from Nacho Serra Sanchez and Antonio Prat over Breno Marques and Andreas Scott.

No. 30 Antonio Prat grabbed the automatic win from a retirement by Andreas Scott to put the Hurricanes up 2-0. Kroslak then earned the 6-3, 6-2 win against Piqueras, while Segado dominated on court five with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Joao Portugal to clinch the win.

Serra Sanchez extended the lead with a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Marques at the No. 2 spot and Alhogbani with a 6-4, 6-3 decision against Jean Deloziere. Sadaoui then completed the sweep with a 7-6 (5), 6 (5)-7, 12-10 win over Labbene.

Later that night, the Hurricanes faced the Bulls. Sadaoui and Kroslak paired up in doubles once again to take down Jorquera and Nasyam, 6-2, on court two, as Serra Sanchez and Prat fell at the top court, 6-3, to Mitsakos and Mainguy.

Coming down to court three, Alhogbani and Segado clinched the doubles point over Malkin and Kim, 6-4, at the No. 3 spot.

Serra Sanchez grabbed the 6-1, 6-3 win against Balci, while Segado beat Kim, 6-1, 6-4, and Prat clinched the match at the top court with an impressive 7-5, 6-4 victory over Mainguy.

Miami will compete in ITA Kickoff Weekend in San Diego, Calif., to face Princeton on Friday., Jan. 23.
