Miami Shuts Out Troy in Season Opener
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team opened the season with a 4-0 win over the Troy Trojans on Wednesday morning.
The match, originally scheduled for Jan. 13 at 11 am, was postponed to today at 9 am due to inclement weather and was decided to start in singles to avoid anticipated weather. No doubles play was set to take place if a team reached four points in singles.
Mehdi Sadaoui earned the first win of the season with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win on court four over Louis Boilevin. Immediately after, No. 30 Antonio Prat took down Yeray Andres Pastor, 6-1, 6-2, at the top court, while newcomer Saud Alhogbani extended Miami’s lead with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Thiago Drozdowski at the No. 6 spot.
Nacho Serra Sanchez clinched the match on court two, 6-2, 6-4, against Ausias Martin Melo to secure the first Miami win of the season.
The Hurricanes return on Saturday for a doubleheader against UNF and Buffalo at 10 am and 6 pm, respectively.
