Miami Posts Highest Score of Season, Defeating Georgia State 99-46
CORAL GABLES, Fla. –The University of Miami women’s basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon, defeating Georgia State 99-46 inside Watsco Center. Four Canes hit double figures in scoring, and Miami dominated on the boards, out-rebounding the Panthers 58-15.
Miami’s overall record now stands at 6-3, 0-0 ACC and the Georgia State Panthers hold a 4-6, 0-0 SBC record.
The first 18 points scored by Miami were spread across seven different players: Kimpson (3), Blasigh (3), Tippner (3), Raviv (2), Wetzel (2), Kyle (2), Okolo (2), and Adams (1). The offensive depth across the Canes led to an immediate advantage (18-9), which the Canes later elevated to 27-12 at the end of the first period. Miami was also dominate on defense, outrebounding the Panthers 15-3 in the initial ten minutes of play.
Miami held a 15-point advantage over Georgia State coming out for the second quarter and kept the Panthers scoreless for over two minutes and thirty seconds. The Canes offensive momentum also persisted, posting another 19 points.10 of Miami’s second quarter points were collected inside the paint, six came from behind the arch, and three were tallied on the free throw line. Blasigh and Kyle both recorded six points to lead Miami’s scoring effort. Kyle also led on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds, followed by Kpetikou with four.
At the conclusion of the first half Miami held the lead at 46-20. Miami’s bench was responsible for 23 points, and as a unit the Canes were shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Blasigh led all in scoring with 12 points, going 4-of-5 from the three-point line. On the defensive end, UM brought in 32 rebounds in 20 minutes, spearheaded by Kyle with 12.
Adams reopened the scoring column for Miami in the first 30 seconds of the second half with a driving layup. Shortly after, Raviv and Wetzel followed up with back-to-back three pointers to garner a 34-point lead (54-20), forcing the Panthers to take a timeout with 8:12 on the clock. Miami continued to stretch the scoring margin in their favor during the remainder of the third period, positioning themselves with a 47-point lead (80-33) heading into the fourth and final quarter.
In the last 10 minutes of play Miami shot 50 percent from the field, converting for 19 points. Okolo led on the boards for the first time, securing four of Miami’s 11 rebounds. The Canes kept control for the remainder of the game to solidify their largest margin of victory this season at 99-46.

Miami will return to Watsco Center next Sunday, Dec. 14, for a 2 p.m. tipoff against NC State. The game will be streamed on ACCNX and mark Miami’s third and final contest of their homestand.
