Miami Surpasses 100 points in Saturday Exhibition Win

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team defeated Lynn University, 112-62, in an exhibition contest Saturday afternoon at the Watsco Center.

Offensively, Miami was led by graduate transfer, Ra Shaya Kyle with 26 points. Four other Hurricanes hit double figures in scoring: Amarachi Kimpson (15), Soma Okolo (12), Ahnay Adams (11), and Vittoria Blasigh (10).

As a team, Miami put on a defensive performance, totaling 22 steals and out-rebounding the Knights 46-30. Meredith Tippner led the Canes in steals with seven, followed by Gal Raviv with five. On the boards 10 Hurricanes contributed one or more rebounds to the game total of 46.

Miami’s Jessica Peterson scored the first bucket of the game opening the Hurricanes offense. From there, Miami went 3-3 from the three-point line in the initial three minutes of play. The Hurricanes largest lead of the first half stood at 27 (57-30). Altogether, Miami outscored Lynn University, 57-33 in the first half and out rebounded the Knights, 21-14.

10 different Hurricanes recorded a basket in the second half with Miami hitting its game high scoring percentage of 57.1 from the field in the fourth. Defensively the Canes limited Lynn to 29 points in the final 20 minutes to secure the 112-62 victory.

The Hurricanes open their season on Nov. 3, hosting Hofstra at the Watsco Center. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. and the game will air on ACC Network Extra.
