
Hurricanes Come Up Short Against Notre Dame at ACC Championships
CARY, N.C. – The tenth seeded University of Miami men’s tennis team (13-10, 6-7 ACC) fell, 4-3, win against the No. 15-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish (14-14, 1-12 ACC) on Wednesday evening at the Cary Tennis Park.
The Hurricanes dropped the doubles point and couldn’t finish the fight in singles for the early exit in Cary.
On court two, James Corsillo and Yu Zhang took the 6-2 win over Nacho Serra Sanchez and Leonardo Dal Boni, before the Fighting Irish secured the opening point with a 6-3 win from Luis Llorens Saracho and Peter Nad over Mehdi Sadaoui and Jules Garot on court three.
Court two was first to finish in singles as Zhang earned the 6-2, 6-3 win over Antonio Prat to give Notre Dame the 2-0 lead. Miami took back-to-back courts when Dal Boni grabbed the 6-4, 6-4 victory over Nad and Sanchez took court three over Chase Thompson, 6-3, 7-6 (11).
Notre Dame regained the lead once No. 19 Sebastian Dominko claimed the top court, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, against No. 21 Martin Katz, until Garot evened the score at three-all with a 7-5, 7-6 (4) win against Kyran Magimay on court six.
Down to court four, Sadaoui led 4-1 in the final set over Jameson Corsillo, but ultimately fell 6-4, 1-6, 5-7 as the Fighting Irish rallied back to take the win.
Miami will await their NCAA tournament fate on April 28.
