
Miami Comes Up Short To North Carolina
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The No. 25 University of Miami men’s tennis team (11-7, 4-5) dropped the 4-3 battle to the UNC Tarheels (12-6, 6-3) on Friday night.
The Hurricanes dropped the doubles point and battled down to the last court, ultimately falling on court five.
On court two, Nacho Serra Sanchez and Leonardo Dal Boni fell 6-3 to Diego Jarry and Anthony Wright, but Miami bounced back by Martin Katz and Antonio Prat taking the top court, 6-4, over Vladislav Melnic and Chris Xu. Down to court three, UNC came out victorious with a 7-6 battle from Djakouris Constantinos and Nick Mangiapane over Mehdi Sadaoui and Jules Garot.
Miami struck first in singles as Sanchez took court three the ranked win, 6-4, 6-0, over No. 115 Xu. The Tarheels then regained the lead on court six after Mangiapane earned the 6-2, 6-3 win over Garot. Antonio tied it at 2-2 once again with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Constantinos on court two.
Katz, ranked No. 41, then earned the 7-6, 6-4 win against Melnic to give Miami the lead, before UNC tied it again on court four after Wright grabbed the 6-3, 7-6 win over Sadaoui. Coming down to the last court, Dal Boni battled but fell 1-6, 7-6, 5-7 to Jarry on court five.
The Hurricanes will travel to Durham, N.C., to face Duke on Sunday.
