W. Tennis Secures Fifth Straight Win

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team (7-5, 3-1) wrapped up an undefeated week by sweeping the Louisville Cardinals (8-5, 5-3), 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

After five matches in seven days, the Hurricanes claimed their fifth straight team win after notching the doubles point and taking three singles victories on the top three courts.

Raquel Gonzalez and Xinyi Nong took the top court 6-2 over Alice Otis and Elisabeth Iila, before Jaquelyn Ogunwale and Aely Arai clinched the doubles point following a 6-3 victory over Germany Davis and Berta Miret on court three.

Gonzalez, ranked No. 95, earned the first win with a 6-4, 6-0, on court three, before Noel extended the lead following a 6-2, 6-3 victory against No. 115 Otis at the top court. Ogunwale then clinched the win after grabbing the 6-4, 6-3 victory over Lika Peresypkina at the No. 2 spot.

The Hurricanes are back Monday, March 17 when they host a non-conference clash with Stony Brook.
