
Miami Drops California Finale
BERKELEY, Calif. – The No. 29 University of Miami men’s tennis team (8-4, 2-2) fell, 4-0, to the No. 26 Cal Bears (9-2, 2-2) on Sunday afternoon.
The Hurricanes dropped the doubles point and fell short in singles to wrap up their time on the West Coast.
At the top court, Martin Katz and Antonio Prat fell 6-2 to Derrick Chen and Theo Dean, followed by Mehdi Sadaoui and Jules Garot falling to Lechno Wasiutynski and Mikey Wright on court three, 6-1. On court two, Nacho Serra Sanchez and Leonardo Dal Boni were down 3-5 to Alex Chang and Timofey Stepanov when the doubles point was clinched.
Prat was first to fall against No. 36 Dean, 6-4, 6-3, on court two, before Alex Aney took court six over Garot, 6-4, 6-2. Sadaoui then dropped court four to Chen, 6-3, 6-3, to finalize the match.
No. 42 Katz was down 5-7, 5-2 to No. 49 Cheng at the top court, Sanchez led Stepanov, 6-2, 5-5 on court three and Dal Boni was down 6-7 (3), 0-5 to Wasiutynski at the No. 5 spot.
Miami will travel to Wake Forest on March 14, before taking on NC State on the road on March 16.
