Hurricanes Fall 4-2 to Blue Raiders
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (3-2) fell, 4-2, against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders (3-2) in the consolation round of ITA Kickoff Weekend in the Philip & Cheryl Milstein Family Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Hurricanes picked up the doubles point to open the match. Nacho Serra Sanchez and Leonardo Dal Boni took down Jakub Kroslak and Shu Matsuoka, 6-4, before Martin Katz and Antonio Prat clinched the opening point with a 7-5 win against No. 45 Ondrej Horak and Karim Al-Amin.
Going into singles with the advantage, Sanchez fell, 0-6, 2-6, to Kroslak on court three, followed by a 3-6, 1-6 loss from Mehdi Sadaoui against Kacper Szymkowiak on court five. Katz, ranked No. 51, took down No. 98 Al-Amin at the top court to tie the match.
The Blue Raiders then grabbed back-to-back wins from Horak over Dal Boni, 6-2, 7-6 (2) and Berranger over Garot, 7-5, 6-4, to secure the match win.
The Hurricanes are back in action on Jan. 31 when they host USF at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
