Moll, Vallée Sweep ACC Weekly Awards
CORAL GABLES. Fla. – Following a dominant dual meet win over FIU in its season opener, the University of Miami swimming & diving program swept the weekly Atlantic Coast Conference awards released Tuesday afternoon.
Freshman Simone Moll took home ACC Swimmer of the Week honors, while veteran diver Mia Vallée was tabbed as ACC Diver of the Week.
Competing in the first meet of her collegiate career, Moll picked up two individual wins and was also a member of a winning relay group. Moll’s time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.00) was the first NCAA ‘B’ cut on the season and the fourth-fastest swim in program history in the event.
Moll also added the top finish in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:16.09) in the final stages of the meet.
Vallée was superb from the outset in sweeping both events. The former NCAA national champion took home the top finish in the 1-meter (305.18) and 3-meter (318.23), helping key Miami to a 216-81 win.
