Miami Elevates Yaroshuk-Tews to Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich announced Friday a restructuring of the University of Miami tennis programs, elevating head women’s coach Paige Yaroshuk-Tews to Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis and promoting Alex Santos to head men’s tennis coach.
As Director of Men’s and Women’s Tennis, Yaroshuk-Tews will have oversight of both the men’s and women’s programs and continue serving as the head coach of the women’s team. She is Miami’s all-time winningest tennis coach with 425 career wins over 23 seasons. This past season she led the Hurricanes to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the 15th time and coached Alexa Noel to the NCAA singles title – the third time she has coached a Miami singles champion.
Santos has served as associate women’s head coach at Miami the past four seasons, his second stint in Coral Gables. He previously worked at UM under Yaroshuk-Tews from 2009-13. Santos earned ITA National Assistant Coach honors in 2013 before departing to become the head women’s coach at Pittsburgh. Since returning to Miami, he has twice been named ITA Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
“Paige is one of the most accomplished coaches in college tennis and she has a clear vision for how Miami tennis should collectively look, feel and function,” Radakovich said. “I am excited to see how she helps the student-athletes in both of our tennis programs maximize their talents.
“Alex is an energetic leader, sharp tactician, and tireless recruiter, and I am confident he will help build our men’s program into a consistent winner.”
Overall, Yaroshuk-Tews has led the Miami women’s team to one national runner-up finish in 2006, eight Elite Eight appearances and 15 Sweet 16s. She has coached 20 All-Americans and four Atlantic Coast Conference Players of the Year. She was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2012. As a student-athlete, Yaroshuk-Tews was a two-time All-American at UCLA, helping the Bruins advance to the Final Four as a senior.

Santos led the Panthers for six years, leading Pittsburgh to its first win over a ranked foe and guiding the program’s first players to earn ITA singles and doubles rankings. Prior to returning to Coral Gables, he worked at Baylor for one season as associate head coach.

A native of Oeiras, Portugal, Santos was one of the top-ranked junior players in Portugal and graduated from Universidade Tecnica de Lisboa in 2005.
