Miami Falls to No. 17 FSU in Regular Season Finale
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team (10-13, 2-10 ACC) dropped its regular season finale, 4-2, to No. 17 Florida State (17-7, 7-5 ACC) on Saturday afternoon.
The Hurricanes battled for the doubles point but dropped the opening advantage to the Seminoles. FSU’s Youcef Rihane and Loris Pourroy took down No. 88 Martin Katz and Antonio Prat, 6-4, on court two. Then, Jamie Connel and Alex Bulte defeated Sam Baumgartner and Nacho Serra Sanchez on court three, 6-4.
Miami opened singles with a win to tie it up, as No. 96 Martin Katz took down Loris Pourroy, 6-1, 6-3, on court two. The Seminoles picked up back-to-back victories to go up 3-1. Alex Bulte defeated Yannik Rahman, 6-4, 6-2, on court five, while No. 4 Antoine Cornut-Chauvinc claimed the top court over Antonio Prat, 7-6 (3), 6-4.
At the No. 3 spot, Vladislav Melnic delivered a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 win over Jamie Connel to close in on the Seminoles. In a hard-fought match, Adrien Burdet fell to Youcef Rihane, 7-5, 2-6, 6-3, on court four to give FSU the win.
The Hurricanes head to Cary, N.C., next week to participate in the 2024 ACC Men’s Tennis Championship. The bracket will be announced on Sunday.
