No. 21 Miami Dominates Syracuse, 6-1
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 21 University of Miami women’s tennis team (8-4, 6-2 ACC) took down No. 47 Syracuse (9-9, 3-8 ACC), 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
The Hurricanes closed out their last home match of the season by notching their sixth ACC win, highlighted by Audrey Boch-Collins finishing out her senior season at the Schiff going undefeated in singles.
Miami swept all three doubles courts to take the opening point. Leonie Schuknecht and Antonia Balzert wrapped up court two with a 6-3 win against Anastasia Sysoeva and Constance Levivier. Audrey Boch-Collins and Alexa Noel followed it up with a clinched win on court three, taking the 6-2 victory over Emilie Elde and Shiori Ito.
The No. 56 ranked duo of Isabella Pfennig and Xinyi Nong completed the sweep with a 6-4 win at the top court over Miyuka Kimoto and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya.
Singles opened with five straight Miami wins. No. 69 Pfennig dominated Elde with a 6-1, 6-0 win on court two, while No. 107 Boch-Collins shut out Levivier, 6-0, 6-0, on court five to extend the lead to 3-0.
No. 16 Noel then racked up an impressive 6-0, 6-2 win over Kanapatskaya at the top court to clinch the win. Taking the last two wins for Miami, Schuknecht grabbed the 6-1, 7-5 win at the No. 4 spot over Ito and Nong delivered a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) win over Fonte on court six.
Syracuse picked up a court after a hard-fought 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (11-9) win against Balzert on court three.
The Hurricanes will travel all of April to close out the regular season, first heading to NC State on April 5 in Raleigh, N.C.
