Swimming Sets School Mark, Farouk Takes Silver

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Miami Hurricanes wrapped their trip to the 2024 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships with another record-setting performance Saturday night.

In addition to Mohamed Farouk’s silver medal in the men’s platform, Miami’s 400-yard freestyle relay group – comprised of Talia Bates, Giulia Carvalho, Jane Fitzgerald and Savannah Barr – broke the school record in an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 3:15.45.

In the process, Bates broke her own school record time in the 100-yard freestyle.

The Hurricanes delivered the seventh-most swimming points of any program in the field, finishing with 391 despite competing without their women’s diving contingent.

Farouk picked up his second medal of the tournament after taking second in the men’s platform event.

The standout junior, who won a bronze medal in the 3-meter earlier in the week, took second with a score of 410.35, only behind Pitt’s Cameron Cash (448.95), who took first.

Farouk was one of two Miami divers to medal; Brodie Scapens picked up the 1-meter gold medal in the opening day of competition Tuesday.
