Miami Finishes 10th at Spartan Sun Coast Invitational
SARASOTA, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team wrapped up play at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational on Monday, finishing 10th in the two-day tournament in Sarasota, Fla. The invitational was shortened to 36 holes due to weather on Sunday.
The Hurricanes recorded a 36-hole score of 594 (+18) on the par-72, 6,191-yard course at the Palm Aire Country Club – Champions Course to finish 10th out of 15 teams.
As a team, Miami totaled 27 birdies in the tournament, good for fifth among all competing teams. Freshman Aada Rissanen paced Miami in birdies with seven across 36 holes.
Senior Sara Byrne recorded her fourth straight top-five showing, finishing second overall with a score of 140 (-4). Byrne has now shot par-or-better in 15 of 20 rounds played this season. Byrne’s final-round score of 68 marks the ninth time in 2023-24 that she has shot sub-70.
Rissanen posted a 36-hole score of 151 (+7), while freshmen Barbora Bujáková and Rebekah Gardner each finished tied for 45th at 152 (+8).
Sophomore Olivia Grønborg rounded out the day with a 36-hole score of 157 (+13), which put her tied for 67th.
The Hurricanes return to action on March 2-3 at the Gators Invitational, hosted by Florida in Gainesville, Fla.
