Dear Canes Community,

Fall has officially arrived, and it has been an exciting start to the season for Miami Athletics.

Football Starts 4-0

Our football team has raced out to a 4-0 start for the first time in six years and is ranked 17th in the latest polls. Mario Cristobal’s squad scored a big win over Texas A&M at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 2, while also defeating Miami (Ohio), Bethune-Cookman and Temple to round out non-conference play. The Canes are averaging 43.7 points per game and have scored 38-plus points in each of their first four games for the first time in 21 years. The defense is yielding just 48 rushing yards per game and has forced seven turnovers. We are playing an energetic and physical brand of football, and it has been impressive to watch!

Let’s Pack Hard Rock

Next up for the Canes is our ACC opener against Georgia Tech this Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium. Kickoff is 8 p.m. on ACC Network. ACC PM will be broadcasting live from Lakeside Patio Friday from 4-6 p.m., and ACC Huddle will be live at Hard Rock all day Saturday. It’s a terrific opportunity to showcase our campus and gameday atmosphere in front of a prime-time television audience. Tickets are still available so click here to secure your seats or call 1-800-GO-CANES. We can’t wait to see you cheering on the Canes Saturday!

Ring of Honor

Earlier this year, we announced that Dennis Erickson, Chuck Foreman and Jimmy Johnson will be inducted into our football program’s Ring of Honor. The Ring of Honor was established in 1997 and serves as the highest honor for a Hurricanes football player or coach. Dennis, Chuck and Jimmy will be formally inducted at halftime of our home game against Clemson on Saturday, October 21 at Hard Rock Stadium. It promises to be a memorable moment for three Canes legends so please join us at Hard Rock to celebrate their induction!

Fall Sports Update

Our volleyball team defeated North Carolina 3-1 Sunday to win its third straight ACC game and improve to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Our soccer team is 2-2 in ACC play after dropping a tough match at second-ranked Florida State and now gears up to face top-ranked North Carolina Thursday night in Chapel Hill. Our cross country team has one more race later this month before competing in the ACC Championships in Tallahassee on October 27.

Basketball Practice Tips Off

Both our men’s and women’s basketball team tipped off practice last week and the ACC released our 2023-24 conference schedules. We have a terrific slate of home games at Watsco Center throughout the season. Jim Larrañaga’s squad hosts the likes of Duke, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Florida State, while Katie Meier’s team welcomes Duke, Louisville, NC State and Syracuse among others.

Season tickets for men’s basketball start at just $300. Women’s basketball season tickets start at just $100. Call 1-800-GO-CANES or click here to reserve your seats today!

UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum Celebrity Golf Tournament

The University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame & Museum will hold its 31st annual Celebrity Golf Tournament to benefit the Hurricane Club on Thursday, October 19 at the luxurious Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables. Two-time All-America decathlete and UM Sports Hall of Fame & Museum inductee Aaron Moser will serve as celebrity host. The event kicks off with registration and lunch at 11 a.m. followed by a 1 p.m. shotgun start at Biltmore. An awards reception featuring live and silent auctions will follow the golf tournament. Click here for more information and we hope to see you there!

Our Canes Community remains stronger than ever thanks to your continued support. Go Canes!
