FUKUOKA, Japan — Six Miami Hurricanes wrapped up their trip to the 2023 FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan this week.

Miami had four student-athletes and both head coaches represented at the world’s premier swimming & diving competition. Divers Mia Vallée (Canada), Max Flory (United States of America) and Mohamed Farouk (Egypt) all competed, as did swimmer Tara Vovk (Slovenia).

Head diving coach Randy Ableman and head swimming coach Andy Kershaw also made the trip to Fukuoka to serve in coaching capacities.

Vallée finished fifth in the world in the 3-meter synchronized event while representing Canada, barely missing out on the final of 1-meter and semifinal on 3-meter springboard.

Farouk took ninth in the mixed 3-meter synchronized, while Flory took home 16th place in the world in the men’s platform event.

Vovk, who finished 35th in the world in the 100-meter breatstroke, wraps up Miami’s trip to Fukuoka with the 50-meter breaststroke on Saturday.
