Vallée Wins Silver on Day 2 of ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C.— After a successful opening day of the 2023 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships, the Miami Hurricanes swimming and diving team returned to action on Wednesday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

The Hurricanes had six swimmers earn spots in the finals after strong performances in the preliminary rounds earlier Wednesday morning.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team comprised of Giulia Carvalho, Tara Vovk, Zorry Mason, and Jacey Hinton earned a spot in the finals. In the finals, Carvalho, Vovk, Mason, and Hinton placed 10th, with a time of 1:31.49.

Veteran swimmers, Adrianna Cera and Aino Otava, earned spots in the finals of the 500-yard freestyle. Cera placed 16th (4:49.49), with Otava following behind in mere seconds to finish in 17th place (4:49.65).

Carvalho earned a C cut in the preliminary round (22.65), to compete in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle. Carvalho finished in 20th place, with a final time of 22.57.

In the final event of the evening, veteran women’s diver, Mia Vallée, won silver in the women’s 1-meter dive.

Vallée finished with a final score of 330.05, just behind Aranza Vazquez (379.25) of UNC.

The 2023 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships continue Thursday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
