Cooper, Flory Earn All-America Honors on Platform

ATLANTA – Zach Cooper and Max Flory capped their run at the NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships in impressive fashion Saturday night, earning All-America honors in the men’s platform

Cooper earned his fourth straight NCAA All-America honor on his signature event, falling just short of his first national championship. The Indiana native finished in second place with 443.05 points, just behind Tyler Downs of Purdue (447.20).

Flory, who also competed in the 1-meter springboard and 3-meter springboard this week, ended the finals in fifth place with a score of 398.00.

Cooper was cruising through the final round, scoring more than 80 points of two of his first four dives. He opened the round with an armstand back 2 somersault 2 ½ twist for 88.20 points and nailed a forward 4 ½ somersault tuck for 88.80.

He had a slight falter on his last attempt, a back 2 ½ somersault with 2 ½ twists out of pike, that allowed Downs to emerge with the title.

Flory ended his night on a high note, nailing a back 2 ½ somersault 2 ½ twist pike for a round-high 88.20 points on his sixth and final dive.
