Zhu Signs with Canes Golf
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Emily Zhu signed a National Letter of Intent to join the University of Miami golf team, head coach Patti Rizzo announced Wednesday.
“We are extremely excited to have Emily become a Miami Hurricane today,” said Rizzo. “She is an awesome player and will make a great addition to our team.”
Zhu, a native of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, is the 53rd ranked golfer in the Rolex AJGA Rankings.
She comes to Miami with a plethora of experience on the international stage, including five years on the Canada Junior National Team from 2018-22.
Her tournament experience is highlighted by three tournament titles, two in 2019 at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship (-13; 275), and the AJGA Natural Resource Partners Bluegrass Junior (E; 210). In 2021, Zhu was crowned champion at the Junior Orange Bowl with a seven-under par score of 277.
The Richmond Green Secondary School alum tied for second in 2018 and 2019 at the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy. She added a second-place finish to her resume at the 2018 Canadian Junior Girls Championship.
Zhu fired a five-under par (139) to place third at the 2019 PGA of Canada Women’s Championship.
