Canes Announce 2021 Rowing Schedule

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team will compete in four races during the 2021 regular season, culminating in an appearance at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship in May.

Three of the four regular season races will take place in Florida, with the lone race outside the Sunshine State occurring in late April in Lake Wheeler, N.C. For the 11th year in a row, Clemson will play host to the ACC Championship.

After their 2020 season was halted before it even began, the Canes will be back on the water in a race setting for the first time in over a year on March 26 when they take on Jacksonville and Stetson in Deland, Fla.

Miami follows up the race at Stetson with its first two-day event of the season, competing in the Sunshine State Invite on April 2 and 3. Opposing teams include Jacksonville, Central Florida and Clemson, among others.

The Canes will face off with Central Florida just a few short weeks after the Sunshine State Invite, visiting the Knights in Orlando, Fla., on April 16.

Miami’s final bout during the regular season comes at the Lake Wheeler Invite on April 23 and 24. In an event co-hosted by Duke and North Carolina, the Lake Wheeler Invite plays host to 12 teams, including both host schools and a third ACC foe in Clemson.

Just under a month later, the Canes will head back up north to compete in the ACC Championship in Clemson, S.C., on May 14 and 15. This will be Miami’s 16th appearance at the conference championship since joining the league ahead of the 2005 season.
