All Eight Miami Divers Qualify for NCAA Zones
CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Thanks to standout performances by a pair of Hurricanes at the Bulldog Invitational this past weekend, all eight divers from the University of Miami will travel to the NCAA Zone B qualifers at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Freshmen Emma Gullstrand and Jack Matthews – both of whom joined the Hurricanes as mid-year enrollees – will be participating in their first NCAA Zone meet after impressing at the weekend meet in Athens, Ga. The duo is hoping to qualify for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships later on in March.
Gullstrand posted a score of 330.23 in the 1-meter and 363.30 in the 3-meter to qualify, while Matthews – who competed at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships last week at the GAC – will be returning to the same pool where he made his conference championships debut.
Matthews posted a score of 345.68 in the 1-meter and 409.13 in the 3-meter to earn the right to represent the Hurricanes.
Both Gullstrand and Matthews are accomplished international divers who have represented Sweden and USA, respectively, on the international level. They will be joining Jessie Creed, co-captain Millie Haffety and Mia Vallée on the women’s side, along with captain Zach Cooper, Max Flory and Brodie Scapens on the men’s side.
NCAA Zone B qualifying will take place March 7-9 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
