Canes Fall to Wolfpack on the Road

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Miami women’s basketball team dropped its first road game of the season on Sunday, falling to the No. 4/3 NC State Wolfpack, 78-47.

Senior Kelsey Marshall led the Canes on offense, pouring in 14 points for her fifth double-digit game of the season. Junior Karla Erjavec made her Miami debut on Sunday, tallying a pair of assists and her first bucket as a Cane in the contest.

On the defensive side of the ball, senior Taylor Mason led the team in rebounding with eight. She also recorded 10 points in the second half for her fourth double-figure outing this year.

The Wolfpack tallied seven first-quarter 3-pointers to kickstart their offense in the first half. Marshall responded with five quick points for the Canes in the second quarter, but NC State continued to shoot at a high-percentage to take a 48-16 lead into halftime.

The Canes found their rhythm on offense in the third quarter thanks to the senior guards who accounted for 11 of Miami’s 13 points in the frame. Miami outscored NC State 18-11 in the final quarter, highlighted by a pair of 3-pointers by freshman Nyayongah Gony, but the Wolfpack held on for the victory.
