Canes in the WNBA: Week 4
Three of the best players to come through The U, Shenise Johnson (’12), Beatrice Mompremier (’20) and Riquna Williams (’12) are working their way through the WNBA bubble this season.
Shenise Johnson, Minnesota Lynx
- Averaging 5.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists this season
- Missed five games with a hamstring injury
- Totaled three rebounds in her first game back, seeing six minutes of action against New York on Aug. 15
Beatrice Mompremier, Connecticut Sun
- Averaging 1.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game in her rookie campaign
- Played a season-high 17 minutes on Aug. 10 against Atlanta, recording seven points, five rebounds and two steals in the contest
- Tallied three points and three rebounds in five minutes of action against Dallas on Aug. 12
- Recorded two blocks in back-to-back games on Aug. 14 and Aug. 16, notching three and four rebounds, respectively
Riquna Williams, Los Angeles Sparks
- Averaging 13.0 points, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game this season, shooting the best field goal percentage of her career at .465
- Leads in the Sparks in scoring (13.0) and steals (1.5), while ranking fourth in 3-point field goal percentage (.508)
- Notched 17 points, two rebounds, two steals and two assists in the Sparks’ victory over New York on Aug. 11
- Recorded her third straight double-digit outing on Aug. 13, posting 13 points on 4-of-9 shooting against Washington
- Knocked down a season-best seven 3-pointers against Indiana, totaling 21 points in 21 minutes of action on Aug. 15
