Men's Divers Dominate on Final Day of NCAA Zones

ATHENS, Ga. – The Miami Hurricanes diving contingent ended Zone B qualifiers in spectacular fashion Wednesday, with four men’s divers qualifying for the NCAA Men’s Championships later this month.

Not only did all of Miami’s men’s divers – redshirt senior David Dinsmore, junior Zach Cooper, freshman Max Flory and freshman Brodie Scapens – earn trips to Indianapolis, Ind., in late March, but they impressively captured the top-four finishes in the platform at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in a dominant day for the Hurricanes.

Dinsmore, a three-time All-America and 2017 NCAA national champion, will be returning for his signature event for the fourth straight year after blowing past the field to earn top honors in the event (899.40).

A two-time All-America, Cooper was second (790.10), just ahead of Flory (770.90) and Scapens (728.95). Flory will also be competing in the 1-meter springboard and 3-meter springboard, while Scapens will partake in the 3-meter springboard.

Freshman Jessie Creed just missed out on the women’s platform cut, finishing ninth in the finals (490.90) after posting a score of 244.45 in the morning’s preliminary round.

NCAA Men’s Diving Championships are scheduled for March 26-29 in Indianapolis.
