Miami Wraps Up Fall Slate at Rivanna Romp
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team will compete in its final regatta of the fall season on Sunday, Nov. 16 at the Rivanna Romp on the Rivanna Reservoir in Earlysville, Va. The Canes will race a 1v8, a 2v8 and a freshman eight at the Romp.
“The squad is looking forward to the opportunity to compete this weekend at Virginia,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “The student-athletes have made good progress through the fall and it is exciting that they have a chance to test new skills and have clearer focus racing down the course. “
The Canes will compete against crews from Central Florida, Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Virginia and SMU. Racing begins at 10 a.m. with the Varsity Eights, followed by the Varsity Four boats at 11:30 a.m. and novice boats at 11:35 a.m. Boats will start one at a time, about 10-15 seconds apart, in a head race.
Last time out, the Canes posted a strong showing at the Head of the Indian Creek, taking home first and second place in the Women’s Collegiate Champ 8+ event, while making a second and third place showing in the Women’s Collegiate Champ 4+ event.
