WBB Announces Date For Sixth Annual Elementary School Day
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will open its doors to local school children on November 13 for the sixth annual Elementary School Day. Area students are invited to cheer on the Canes as they square-off with the University of North Florida at 11 a.m. in the Watsco Center.
Over 16,000 participants from the Miami area have taken part in Elementary School Day in the last four years, and the event continues to grow.
“We are in this awesome community of Coral Gables and it is a very tight-knit neighborhood,” Head Coach Katie Meier said. “I love when we can get the local school children here and really take care of our community. School day is a day that means a lot to not only our staff, but also to our players, as well.”
Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to ‘Fuel like a ‘Cane’ through an educational introduction to the physical activity, healthy eating and wellness concepts practiced by University of Miami student-athletes. In-game activities will be tailored to elementary school students and provide a unique and interactive platform to learn, while also allowing the students to enjoy the action of a NCAA Division I basketball game.
Admission is complimentary for all students, teachers and chaperones who register online prior to October 25. Schools will be allowed to bring a bagged lunch to enjoy during the game. For more information, please visit our website.
