Miami Places 177 Student-Athletes on ACC Honor Roll
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Tuesday its 2018-19 academic honor roll and 177 University of Miami student-athletes made the cut.
The ACC Honor Roll is comprised of individuals who earned a 3.0 GPA for the full academic year. A total of 4,768 student-athletes received the distinction from the league’s 15 institutions.
Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce, a 2018 Second Team All-ACC selection and three-time All-ACC Academic Team pick, is among the honorees for the fifth straight year. She is one of 51 individuals across the conference featured for at least the fifth time.
Sixteen Hurricanes garnered ACC Honor Roll recognition for the fourth time: Kolby Bird (volleyball), Jamie Brunworth (soccer), Carolyn Chaney (women’s swimming), Laura Cornelius (women’s basketball), Anne den Otter (women’s track & field), Dane Dunlap (men’s tennis), Brittny Ellis (women’s track & field), Sean Hagert (men’s track & field), Emese Hof (women’s basketball), Ana Madcur (women’s tennis), Lucia Pampana (volleyball), Anna Runia (women’s track & field), Katie Sickinger (women’s swimming), Haley Templeton (volleyball), Dewi Weber (golf) and Roxanne Yu (swimming).
The list features a pair of 2019 national champions in Michelle Atherley (pentathlon) and Estela Perez-Somarriba (tennis singles). This is the second honor for Atherley and the third for Perez-Somarriba.
In addition, two-time Second Team All-ACC defensive back Jaquan Johnson, now with the Buffalo Bills after being selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft, earned the first distinction of his career.
