Mompremier Picked for U.S. Pan Am Games Team
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Beatrice Mompremier of the University of Miami women’s basketball team will once again represent her country on the international stage.
The Miami native is one of 12 players on the U.S. Pan American Games Team, as announced Monday morning by USA Basketball. Mompremier was one of 35 players at the team tryouts, held May 16-19 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The 12 individuals who made the cut will return to Colorado July 23-Aug. 5 for training camp and then compete in the Pan American Games from Aug. 6-10 in Lima, Peru. Athletes eligible for the team must be U.S. citizens who are currently enrolled as a full-time collegiate student with eligibility remaining for the 2019-20 school year. Mompremier is one of five players on the team who have previously medaled with USA Basketball. She helped the United States to gold at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship in 2014.
A rising redshirt senior forward, Mompremier earned First Team All-ACC honors in 2018-19, her first season competing for the Hurricanes. She set the program single-season rebounding record at 12.2 boards per game and also paced the Hurricanes with 16.7 points per contest.
Mompremier was a finalist for the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award, as well as an All-America honorable mention from both the WBCA and Associated Press.
