Volleyball Signs Highest-Ranked Class Under Gandara

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s volleyball program signed the nation’s 25th-best class heading into the 2019 season, according to PrepVolleyball.com.

Thursday’s ranking is the highest mark for a Miami recruiting class under head coach Jose “Keno” Gandara in his seven seasons with the Canes. The class also ranks third in the ACC, behind last season’s ACC champions, Pittsburgh and Louisville.

“We’re bringing in eight new players to our roster next year, which is essentially half of our roster,” said Gandara. “There really is no way around it – this group will be a huge part of our program’s identity, both immediately and long term. The fact that the volleyball world thinks so highly of this class gives us added confidence that our future is headed in the right direction.”

Next season’s class will feature junior transfer Janet Kalaniuvalu, alongside seven freshmen in Savannah Vach, Allie Ashman, Amanda Falk, Angela Grieve, Janice Leao, Kennedy Prince and Sequoia Wattles.

Miami returns two seniors in Sara Duque and Bridget Wallenberger, two juniors in Elizaveta Lukianova and Cameron Dobbs and three sophomores with Priscilla Hernandez, Taylor Burrell and Emily Damon.
