Golf Earns 7th Straight NCAA Regional Bid
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 23-ranked University of Miami golf team was selected to compete in the NCAA Cle Elum Regional on Wednesday. The 54-hole regional runs May 6-8 at the Tumble Creek Golf Club in Cle Elum, Wash., hosted by the University of Washington.
Miami earned its seventh straight berth into an NCAA Regional and will be seeking its third trip to the NCAA Championships in four years. The Canes are attempting to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 26th time in program history.
The Hurricanes are an at-large selection into the tournament and the sixth seed in the regional. The challenging regional features eight of the top 30-ranked teams in the nation: USC (1), Arkansas (8), South Carolina (9), Northwestern (16), Washington (19), Miami (23), Oregon (26) and San Jose State (29).
There are four regionals (East Lansing, Mich.; Cle Elum, Wash.; Norman, Okla.; Auburn, Ala.), with each featuring 18 teams and six individuals. The top six teams and top three individuals not on those teams will advance to the NCAA Championships May 17-22 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
