Golf Wraps up Day One at ACC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The No. 20-ranked University of Miami golf team carded a 24-over-par 600, through two rounds Thursday at the 31st Annual ACC Women’s Golf Championship in Greensboro, N.C.

The Hurricanes will enter Saturday’s final 18 holes ninth on the leaderboard and are slated to tee off at 9:20 a.m. against student athletes from Boston College and North Carolina. Live scoring for the tournament will be accessible HERE. The event will be carried live on ACC Network Extra beginning at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

“I just don’t get it. We practiced well all week, but played terrible today,” Miami head coach Patti Rizzo said. “We have nothing to lose on Saturday; we just have to go for it and finish strong.”

Graduate student Claudia De Antonio led the Hurricanes with a one-over 148 on Thursday. Sitting at two-over-par, through the opening 10 holes, the Caracas, Venezuela, native tallied a trio of birdies to finish even-par through the opening round. Overall, De Antonio notched seven birdies and is tied for 22nd.

Recording a pair of eagles in the opening round, junior Macarena Aguilera is tied for the lead in the category with Wake Forest’s Emilia Migliaccio. The Buenos Aires, Argentina, native enters the final day tied for 28th at five-over 149.

Rounding out the Canes’ lineup, sophomore Kristyna Frydlova finished the afternoon in 38th at seven-under 151, junior Renate Grimstad tied for 39th a stroke back at eight-under and freshman Anna Backman tied for 44th at 10-over-par.
