Rowing Closes Out Lake Natoma Invitational

GOLD RIVER, Calif. – The University of Miami women’s rowing team had a solid weekend of racing at the Lake Natoma Invitational.
 
Three Hurricane boats competed over two days in Gold River, Calif. Nine teams were in the field including Brown University, Sacramento State University, Stanford University, University of California Berkeley, University of Southern California, University of Tulsa, Gonzaga University, and University of Notre Dame.
 
The Canes opened up competition Saturday morning, starting with the Varsity 4 finishing third with a time of 7:32.5. The Second Varsity 8 also finished third with a time of 7:05.54. With the last race of the Saturday morning session, the Varsity 8 team finished third with a time of 6:53.64.
 
Miami’s three boats were back in the water for a Saturday afternoon session of racing. The Hurricane’s Varsity 4 finished second with a time of 7:39.6. With the Canes’ second race of the day, the Second Varsity 8 came in third with a time of 6:58.9. Lastly, Miami’s Varsity 8 also finished third with a time of 6:40.6. 
 
Finishing off the two-day regatta with the last day of racing, the Canes’ Varsity 4 came in second with a time of 7:43.38. With the last race of the day Miami, the Second Varsity 8 finished third with a time of 7:03.87. 
 
The Canes’ next regatta takes the Hurricanes up to Chapel Hill, N.C., to compete against North Carolina, Duke, UCF and Navy on April 27.

On May 17, Miami will take part in the ACC Rowing Championships in Clemson, S.C., while the NCAA Rowing Championships are slated for May 31-June 2 in Indianapolis, Ind. For a complete look at Miami’s schedule, click here.
