Rowing Back In Action at Sunshine State Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami rowing team is back in Sarasota, Fla., to compete at the Sunshine State Invitational.
Five Hurricane boats will compete in the two-day regatta. The Sunshine State Invitational will host 12 schools including University of Kansas, Kansas State, Alabama, Old Dominion, Jacksonville University, University of Central Florida, Stetson University, University of Tulsa, Clemson University, University of Louisville, and Southern Methodist University.
“The team has been training well and steadily improving,” Miami head coach Dave Sanderson said. “We look forward to lining up against some great crews in an expanded Sunshine State invite race format to test our speed.”
Friday’s competition is set to begin at 3:30 p.m., with Miami’s Second Varsity 4 racing out of Lane 1. Miami’s First Varsity 4 will follow, also racing out of Lane 1 at 4:10 p.m. In Lane 6, Miami’s Third Varsity 8 will race at 4:20 p.m. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., Miami’s second Varsity 8 will race out of Lane 1. Out of Lane 1, the First Varsity 8 will hold the last race of the day for Miami at 5:20 p.m.

The Hurricanes will gear up next week for the Natoma Invitational. The two-day event will take place in Sacramento, Calif. on April 13-14.
The Canes’ next regatta takes the Hurricanes up to Chapel Hill, N.C., to compete against North Carolina, Duke, UCF and Navy on April 27.
On May 17, Miami will take part in the ACC Rowing Championships in Clemson, S.C., while the NCAA Rowing Championships are slated for May 31-June 2 in Indianapolis, Ind. For a complete look at Miami’s schedule, click here.
