Miami Golf Moves into Top 20
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team jumped four spots to No. 19 in the WGCA Coaches Poll, as announced Friday afternoon by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.
The Hurricanes have gained 30 votes since the initial poll released on Feb. 22, coming in with 106 tallies.
Miami is one of six ACC teams represented in the rankings this week, including third-ranked Duke, No. 11 Florida State, No. 13 Wake Forest, No. 16 Virginia and No. 22 Clemson.
In their most recent competition, the Hurricanes closed out the Florida Gators Invitational by tying for second, with a trio of Hurricanes securing top-10 finishes.
Competing at the par 70, 6,701-yard Mark Bostick Golf Course, the Hurricanes closed out the weekend with a score of three-over, 843, tying No. 34 Campbell for second, just five strokes back from eighth-ranked Florida. Meanwhile, juniors Renate Grimstad and Macarena Aguilera and sophomore Kristyna Frydlova each finished two-over-par to tie for ninth on the individual leaderboard.
Miami is in the middle of a 22 day hiatus from tournament play before they compete in The Bruzzy Invitational in Argyle, Texas, April 1-2.
