Swim / Dive Drops Tri-Meet with Alabama, Florida State

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Miami women’s swimming & diving team competed in a tri-meet Saturday afternoon at the Alabama Aquatic Center against Alabama and Florida State.
Freshman Millie Haffety edged out Florida State’s Molly Carlson by 0.4 points in the 3-meter (308.40), to secure the first-place finish. In the 1-meter, the freshman placed third (277.80), just 13.05 points behind first-place finisher Carlson.
Also competing in the 1-meter, senior Carolyn Chaney finished fourth with a score of 269.20, while redshirt sophomore Alicia Blagg (242.55) placed seventh.
Dashing through the 200 free, sophomore Carmen San Nicolas placed fifth with a time of 1:53.48, while junior Manon Viguier placed seventh at 1:54.06.
Meanwhile, sophomore Sydney Knapp placed sixth in the 50 free with a time of 24.12, just .02 seconds faster than her teammate, Viguier, who finished sixth.
Sam Nicholas added a fifth-place finish in the 100 free to her resume, hitting the wall in a time of 52.33, while Roxanne Yu (2:03.37) notched a fifth-place finish in the 200 back.
The Hurricanes closed out the tri-meet with Zorry Mason (24.16), Viguier (23.48), Coco Hull (23.88) and Knapp (23.87) securing fourth in the 200 free relay (1:35.39).
Miami will return to action Jan. 19 in Fort Myers, Fla., for a tri-meet with FGCU and Bowling Green, with action slated to begin at 4 p.m.
