XC Concludes Season at NCAA South Regional

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –  The University of Miami cross country program closed out its 2018 season at the NCAA South Regional Friday morning. 
 
Six Canes represented Miami at the event held by Florida State at the Apalachee Regional Park. 
 
Five women competed for the Canes with sophomore Abby Kettle finishing the event first for Miami with a time of 23:25 in the women’s 6K Championship. Kettle finished with the exact same time she posted in her last time out at the ACC Championships two weeks ago. 
 
Kettle finished her sophomore campaign on a high note posting back-to-back strong finishes in the longest races of the year. 
 
Junior Olivia Raymond finished just under the 24-minute mark with her time of 23:57 to be the second Cane to cross the finish line. Raymond was able to shed five tenths of a second off her previous 6K time she posted in her last race.  
 
Sophomore Emma Langlois finished just six seconds behind Raymond with a time of 24:03.3, one tenth of a second faster than her ACC Championship time. Fellow sophomore Simone Vreeland took off four seconds from her previous 6K time, finishing with a time of 24:11.5. 
 
Senior Anne den Otter concluded her final cross country race with the Canes with a time of 24:15.8. den Otter and Raymond were the only two Canes to compete in all six events this season. The pair helped the Canes finish 25th in the event with 726 points. 
 
For the men’s side, Dylan Sykes wrapped up his sophomore campaign in the lone 10K event of the year for the Canes with a time of 32:25. The Grand Rapids, Mich., native finished first for the Canes in all six events this season. 
 
Sykes was the only male runner to represent the Canes on Friday.
