Golf Set to Close out Fall Season in Texas

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team will close out the fall portion of the 2018-19 season at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State University on Sunday and Monday at the par 72, 6,185-yard Kissing Tree Golf Club in San Marcos, Texas.
 
The tournament will open with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Miami will be paired with TCU and Oklahoma for the first 36 holes of competition. Action will resume at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the final round of play.
 
A quintet of Hurricanes will make the trip, with sophomore Kristyna Frydlova participating with group one and opening up play on hole 4A. Junior Macarena Aguilera will open up play on hole 5, while junior Renate Grimstad and graduate student Claudia De Antonio will begin the day on holes 6A and 6B, respectively. Teeing off with group five, sophomore Serena Hou will start on hole 7.

The team is coming off a pair of strong showings at the Schooner Fall Classic and Illini Invitational, setting five school records. In Norman, Miami set the program marks for lowest three-day total (833), two-day total (542) and one-day totals (267 and 275) on a par-71 course. At the Medinah Country Club golf course, the Canes scored the lowest par-72, 54-hole total (846) in program history.
 
The Hurricanes will battle seven top-50 schools in Texas, matching up against Florida State (No. 22), Oklahoma (No. 27), Texas Tech (No. 34), TCU (No. 45), Ole Miss (No. 49) and Texas A&M (No. 50). The rest of the field includes: No. 52 Mississippi State, No. 60 Ohio State, No. 64 Memphis, No. 67 Missouri, No. 75 Houston, No. 82 UNLV, No. 135 Southern Miss and No. 160 Texas State.
