Miami VB Closes Homestand Against FSU, Va. Tech

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –  The University of Miami volleyball program closes out its homestand against instate rival Florida State on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Knight Sports Complex.

The Hurricanes (11-6, 7-3 ACC) host the Seminoles after defeating Georgia Tech, 3-1, on Sunday. Florida State (13-7, 9-1 ACC) travels south riding a six-match win streak. 
 
Senior Kolby has shined offensively during conference play, posting 3.56 kills per set, which sits ninth in the conference. Bird also leads the Canes with 193 kills this season and ranks 16th in program history with 719 career kills. 
 
Miami’s serving has continued to give opponents problems with the Canes leading the conference with 1.55 aces per set. Redshirt senior setter Haley Templeton’s 23 aces leads the Canes and the conference with 0.38 aces per set. 
 
Templeton recorded three of the Canes five aces on Sunday with freshman libero Emily Damon and sophomore Cameron Dobbs each recording one. Damon trails Templeton with 16 aces while leading Miami with 189 digs. 
 
Fellow newcomer Bridget Wallenberger continues to be a nuisance on defense for opponents with 69 total blocks and 1.15 per set, ranking eighth in the ACC. 
 
Miami took last year’s match against the Seminoles, 3-0, at home. 
 
Florida State’s lone conference loss was handed to them by the No. 5 Pittsburgh Panthers (22-0, 10-0). The Seminoles hold a 3-4 away record entering Wednesday’s match. Miami will look to stop sophomore middle blocker Taryn Knuth, who ranks second in the ACC with a solid .401 attack percentage. Knuth (184) is joined by Payton Caffrey (309), Christina Ambrose (226) and Ashley Murray (137), who have recorded 856 of FSU’s 1,026 kills. 
 
Following Wednesday’s match, the Canes will host Virginia Tech on Friday at 7 p.m. The Hokies enter Friday’s match 13-9 (4-6 ACC). Miami leads the series 19-7, having dropped only one of the 12 previous home meetings to the Hokies in program history.

The University of Miami – Coral Gables Campus has introduced an updated parking policy for the 2018-19 school year. Enforcement is now extended to seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. PayByPhone and additional pay stations are available across all campus parking lots and garages to facilitate visitor parking.
