Golf Set to Compete at Illini Invitational
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami golf team will open up play at the Illini Women’s Invitational at Medinah hosted by the University of Illinois on Monday and Tuesday at Medinah Country Club.
The tournament will consist of 54 holes over a two day stretch, with 36 holes played on Monday. Shotgun tee times are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET on Monday, with continuous play lasting through the end of the second round. Action will then conclude on Tuesday, with a shotgun start time of 10 a.m.
A quintet of Hurricanes will make the trip, with senior Dewi Weber participating with group one and opening up play on hole 1A. Sophomore Kristyna Frydlova will open up play on hole 1B, while junior’s Macarena Aguilera and Renate Grimstad will begin the day on holes 2 and 3B, respectively. Teeing off with group four, graduate student Claudia De Antonio will start on hole 3B.

The team is coming off a strong showing at the Schooner Fall Classic, where the Hurricanes finished fourth while also setting records for the lowest three-day total (833), two-day total (542) and one-day totals (267 and 275) in program history. The Hurricanes were led by sophomore Kristyna Frydlova, who placed fourth individually, while carding 17 birdies and shooting nine-under-par.
The Hurricanes will battle seven top-40 schools in Medinah, matching up against Augusta, No. 36 East Carolina, No. 24 Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Kennesaw State, No. 14 Kent State, Northern Illinois, No. 32 Purdue, No. 19 San Jose State, No. 26 SMU, No. 49 Texas Tech, No. 35 Virginia Tech, and Wisconsin.
