Golf Opens Competition in Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Miami women’s golf team continued its 2018-19 season Friday afternoon, as it began competition at the Schooner Fall Classic.
 
The Hurricanes are currently tied for 11th place after they fired a first round score of 291 at the par 71, 6,063-yard Belmar Golf Club.
 
Miami junior Renate Grimstad led the way for the Canes, with an even par 71, carding a pair of birdies on the afternoon. She is currently tied for 22nd heading into the second day of competition.
 
Junior Kristyna Frydlova and sophomore Macarena Aguilera followed closely behind posting an opening round score of one-over-par, 72, and recording three birdies, apiece.
 
Senior Dewi Weber and graduate student Claudia De Antonio rounded out the Hurricanes’ lineup, as they tied for 62nd (76) and 75th (80), respectively.
 
Miami begins Round 2 competition tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. ET and will tee off on hole No. 10.
 
Live scoring for the classic will be available HERE. Coverage of the tournament will be streamed live on FOX Sports Oklahoma and FOX College Sports Central from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, while Sunday the 18th hole will be streamed live on SoonerSports.TV.
