Cross Country Announces 2018 Schedule
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in four events during the 2018 season in advance of the ACC Championships on Oct. 26 at Boston College.
The Hurricanes will run on courses all over Florida before traveling to Massachusetts for the conference meet in late October.
“This schedule will provide challenges our athletes will need to be prepared for the post season,” Miami distance coach Damon Griffiths said.
For the fifth straight year, the Hurricanes will open the 2018 season at the FAU Invitational (Aug. 31). In 2017, Miami’s men’s team took the top two spots in the men’s 5K. Seniors Nathan Kuck and Sean Grossman finished first and second, leading the men to the team championship last season, while the women earned a second place finish with two Canes finishing in the Top 5.
Two weeks later, Miami will travel to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the UCF Invitational on Sept. 15. The last time the Canes competed at the UCF Invitational Lindsi Arrington led the Miami women with a second place finish in the 6K in 2013.
Miami will then go to Gainesville, Fla., for the University of Florida’s Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 22. The Canes have traveled to the Mountain Dew Invitational for the last seven seasons.
The final event before conference championships will be the USF Invitational on Oct. 12 in Tampa, Fla.
The Canes will travel to the ACC Championships in Boston on Oct. 26 and will look to extend their season into November for the NCAA Regional Championships on Nov. 7 hosted by FSU and the NCAA Championships on Nov. 17 in Madison, Wisc.
