Darquea Debuts in 2018 Ricoh Women's British Open
Former University of Miami golf standout Daniela Darquea continues to make her presence felt on the national stage, competing at the 2018 Ricoh Women’s British Open following a top-five finish at the Marathon Classic presented by Owens Corning and O-I.
Last week, the four-year letter winner finished tied for fifth in Sylvania, Ohio, with an 11-under-par 273 over four rounds. After concluding day one, four-over-par, the former Cane dominated the final three rounds, scoring 15-under (64, 66, 68).
The finish earned her a berth at the British Open, taking place at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, August 2-5. Following the conclusion of Thursday’s opening round, Darquea sits in a tie for 83rd scoring 2-over-par, 74, registering one birdie on the day.
Darquea concluded her UM career, earning three All-ACC Conference honors (2014-16), three All-Conference Academic team selections (2014-16) and was named ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2016.
