Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami’s volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2017-2018 season.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale. Miami was one of 163 Division I programs to be honored with the award, setting a new all-time high for the Coaches Association.
Miami was also one of seven ACC programs with three or more student-athletes named to the 2017 All-ACC Academic team after Olga Strantzali, Haley Templeton and Hannah Sorenson earned three of the 37 spots. Strantzali was also named the 2017 ACC Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year.
