No. 18 Canes Golf Competes at Bryan National Collegiate

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 18 University of Miami women’s golf team returns to action Friday through Sunday as it competes in the Bryan National Collegiate at the par-72, 6,386-yard Bryan Park Champions Course in Browns Summit, N.C. Co-hosted by Wake Forest and UNC Greensboro, the 18-team tournament features 11 teams that are ranked among the nation’s top 50, including six in the top 25.
 
Because of incoming inclement weather, the teams are now scheduled to play 36 holes Friday, with the teams teeing off in a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The final round will either be contested Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather situation.

Noting Miami
Miami is ranked 18th nationally in the latest Golfweek rankings, its best ranking of the season. Junior Dewi Weber is the Canes’ top-ranked golfer at No. 19 nationally, while Renate Grimstad stands at No. 55 nationally.
 
Miami has won three of its last four tournaments but has not competed since capturing the Hurricane Invitational on March 7 on its home course at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables.
 
The Canes competed in the Bryan National Collegiate last season and took seventh place in the 17-team field, carding a 54-hole total of 883 (292-295-296). Weber was Miami’s top finisher, tying for 11th place in the event with an even-par 216.
 
Last Time Out
Miami shot a final-round 292 (+4) to hold off No. 16 Oklahoma and win the 2018 Hurricane Invitational on March 7. The Canes finished with a 54-hole total of 866 (+2), topping the Sooners by three strokes. Grimstad finished in a three-way tie for second place at 5-under 211, while Weber tied for fifth at 213 (-3).
