Canes Rowing Opens Fall Campaign at Home

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s rowing team opens competition for the fall portion of its 2017-18 schedule on Sunday at the Head of the Indian Creek.
 
The Hurricanes will race against boats from Stetson, Barry and Nova Southeastern on their home course in the regatta hosted by the Miami Beach Rowing Club. The annual Head of the Indian Creek is a 2.7 mile race against the clock on the scenic Indian Creek in the heart of Miami Beach.
 
Miami will have seven boats in action with four varsity eights and three varsity fours. The varsity eights race is set to begin at 11 a.m., while the varsity fours race will begin at 12:30 p.m.
 
Following Sunday’s racing, Miami travels to the Rivana Romp on Nov. 12 for its final regatta of the fall in Rivana, Va. The University of Virginia will play host to the event.
 
The spring session of racing begins with a two-day trip to Oak Ridge, Tenn., where Miami heads to the Cardinal Invitational beginning on March 17.
