Lohan Advances to Milwaukee Classic Finale

FOX POINT, Wis. – Sinead Lohan of the University of Miami women’s tennis team is headed to the championship of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
The senior notched a pair of victories over top-65 opponents at The Town Club to advance to the final round of the prestigious tournament. The two triumphs also moved her past eight-time ITA All-American Ronni Reis and into sole possession of fifth place on Miami’s all-time wins list with 104.
“I had a pretty solid day today,” Lohan said. “I played two girls who knew how to compete. My first match was a little rough, but I worked through it and definitely played better tennis in the second match.”
The eighth-ranked player in the country and the top seed in the draw, Lohan lost her first set of the day against Stefana Andrei of UL-Monroe. Andrei, ranked No. 60 and seeded fifth, took the opener, 6-4.
Lohan bounced back from there, dropping just seven games the rest of the way to log a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win and earn a semifinal berth.
Once there, the Waterford, Ireland, native squared off against No. 62 Léolia Jeanjean of Arkansas, the sixth seed in the event. Lohan cruised in the first set and took the second in a tiebreaker, leaving the court with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-3) victory.
In Sunday’s championship affair, Lohan will square off with Syracuse’s Miranda Ramirez, ranked No. 59 and seeded fourth, in an all-ACC matchup. The contest, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET, is set to be held at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, a 10,000-seat venue in Milwaukee.
